At any time you are welcome to come to our office and receive information about health care reform and as of October 1, 2013 you can enroll in a health insurance plan to begin coverage for January 1, 2014. No underwriting, no refusals and no rate-ups or exclusions.

If you currently have health insurance you may be able to keep that plan for one year. Stop by the office and we will compare the plan to the new ones and help guide you to make the best choice. If you have a rider or a rate-up on your current plan you will probably want to replace it for the new plans.

There are so many decisions to make. We are licensed by the state and will be registered to be part of the exchange. Our service is free to you because the insurance companies pay our commissions.

You will only be permitted to purchase individual/family coverage during the open enrollment period each year. Unless you have a qualifying event such as a birth of a child or marriage or divorce. For this year the open enrollment period is October 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. In subsequent years the enrollment period will be October 15th through December 7th.

You will need to start gathering information to help you make the best choice. Gather a list of your physicians and hospitals, financial information for your household and information for any employer offered plans for you or your spouse. You will not be asked any medical questions as there is no medical underwriting any longer.

Do not make the mistake of trying to do this on your own. The process will be challenging and confusing. Finding the right plan will require research and knowledge of the insurance plans and the new laws. Let us help you!
